My First Podcast

Although I’ve been working with the Angular framework for many years now and I can honestly say that much of the success of my career can be attributed to it, I have always been an outlier within the community. Sure, I’ve attended my fair share of conferences and meetups and I’ve followed the framework closely so that I’m always up-to-date with new releases and what’s upcoming on the roadmap. Yet, for better or worse, I’ve viewed Angular as any other tool necessary to do my job. To its credit, I’ve been able to build applications that have had a direct impact on tens of thousands of users. I’d consider it one of the best tools available to do the job. Despite this, I have always wanted to give back and I got lucky a number of months back.

Early in 2021, I became an advocate at my company for sponsoring NG Conf and sending a number of our engineers to the conference. During that process, one of the conference organizers that I was working with reached out about a new podcast all centering on Angular and thought I’d be a good potential interviewee. The funny thing was that this person had been meaning to reach out to me via Twitter after seeing a few responses to Angular related tweets. I was incredibly flattered and despite feeling like an absolute imposter, I agreed to participate. Fast forward a few months and we were recording the podcast, which focuses on how I’ve been able to use Angular to bring about positive change in the world. This is something I’ve done for the past couple of years in my role at SonderMind.

Despite my nerves, the hosts of the podcast were incredibly friendly and I think the conversation was insightful and a lot of fun. A notable blooper: after finishing the recording, one of the hosts realized that they had missed clicking the “record” button. Fortunately, we all had time to record again and ultimately, I think the second time around likely made for a better version of the podcast anyway.

If you’re interested in checking out the podcast, I’m featured on episode 16 of the Angular Experience, which you can find anywhere you may listen to podcasts.
